So neither Serum nor Wavetable nor Massive etc will really compare apples to apples.īumping an old post here, but I have to say that the latest version of Pigments (Currently 1.1.2.5) is nothing but amazing to work with.Ĭomparing it to Serum is not fair in Serum's respect, as the team of developers creating Pigments is much larger and has experience from creating amazing software emulations of existing and pre-existing hardware, plus developing hardware themselves. That said - Pigments is a "hybrid" - ie it has an analog engine you can layer with wavetables. Pigments sounds great and is totally insane I also just demo-ed U-he’s Hive (which just added Wavetables), it sounds the most dated, but in a way I find very enjoyable… much, much simpler and less hi-fi, but has a cool sound.

The ease to change the tone in many ways is great, sounds incredibly “full” & “robust”, perfect contrast to Ableton’s Wavetable’s simple clean sound (not that both are needed) Honestly, I’m not into it… it does sound very good, but a bit overcomplicated for my taste… on first impression, I’d just say I prefer Serum…Ĭhanged my mind… I might like it more than Serum… These texts all came in about a 45 minute window, heh. He's recently been getting into Live's Wavetable as well. I haven't used Serum, and only played with Pigments a little so far and really like it, but here's the feedback from a producer buddy I highly respect and who's go-to is Serum buy far.
